MSW, RSW

Hello! My name is Tyler, and I am a Clinical Psychotherapy Associate at Dorset Pier Mental Health. I was born and raised in Thunder Bay where I completed both my Honours Bachelor of Social Work (HBSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) at Lakehead University.

I am passionate about finding and creating alternative approaches to understanding every individual’s unique story. I do this by embracing a strengths-based approach in my practice, acknowledging one’s resilience and capabilities. My professional background includes working primarily with youth and adolescents involved in the criminal justice system, though I am enthusiastic about working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

My practice is grounded in building a trusting therapeutic relationship, where I can work to understand your story the way that you want it to be heard. I take a client-centred and strength-based approach, supporting you in exploring your experiences while recognizing your unique strengths, needs, and challenges. I have experience in teaching Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills and incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques into my work.

In addition to traditional psychotherapy methods, I bring experience in integrating mental health principles into physical activity and sport. I strongly believe that mental wellness should be acknowledged and supported across all areas of life.

Aside from my time spent working, I enjoy staying active in the outdoors, golfing, and engaging in all aspects of football: coaching, playing, and watching. In addition, I love food and am often found cooking up a great meal.

I look forward to working with you!
